09/07/2005: "kick a buck"

about to begin play in the WCOOP Event #4 - Pot Limit Hold'em. the entrant count doubled in the last 10 minutes. seriously. hit the jump for some semi-minute by semi-minute updates

~~~~
2:00PM - AcAs and we go jam, raise, re-raise, re-reraise, all in. opponent shows KK. i turn an ace for the set and double up. first hand.
2:01PM - i am moved to a new table.
2:02PM - 2345 entrants. this is more peeps than the crazy $11+Rebuys tourneys. thank god for the 30 min rounds.
2:04PM - these are short-handed tables (6 players), so i am back to my BB already; Q3o. i fold to the raise.
2:05PM - did i mention that i am 10th out of 2335? i hope, pray, chant that this won't be my highest ranking of the day....
2:06PM - AKo in the cutoff, i re-raise the min raiser and all fold. easy as pie, right?
2:08PM - the lemmings are rushing; i am 26th out of 2303. wow.
2:09PM - 46o in the BB. flop K-K-2, turn 3, river 10. yuck. fold.
2:10PM - the BB and UTG are going to war. board is 8-10-K-2-K, rainbow. BB folds on river bet.
2:11PM - QQ on button. 8-10-J two hearts flop. 7h turn. check check. 6 river. i take pot with Queens vs. A10o.
2:13PM - i turn off the WSOP on the TiVo and start up iTunes.
2:14PM - The Who's "Seeker" is now playing. K9o in the BB. check. flop 5-7-3 two diamonds. fold to min bet. no need to get cute.
2:17PM - gay waiter in the cutoff. fold. why is this hand called the gay waiter? anyone? bueller?
2:17PM - is it wrong to follow up The Who with Missy Elliot? this track is thumpin'. that's right, i said thumpin'. i'm 35 and white. thumpin'? whaddya think about my street cred?
2:21PM - the card rush has ended. first Red Bull Sugarfree opened. gotta rush somehow.
2:22PM - 93o on the button. yuck. how do you like Phoenix? down with the french version of Air? i am.
2:24PM - the desire in this shorthanded play is to go nuts and play every hand. i mean, hand values are lower, right? but i am fighting that. 30 min rounds and my fortunate double-up means i don't have to push for quite a while. 76th out of 2151. this is like a greased pole to hell.
2:26PM - hello! Big slick on the BB. max raise. all fold. $210 more for me!
2:30PM - i just bought Kanye West's new offering, Late Registration. why? b/c i can. damn iTunes rocks.
2:32PM - anyone else like me like to change your deck color from time to time? makes me feel like i am in a real cardroom. we're on the yellow deck now. A3o in the BB; SB folds. no work, no worries.
2:33PM - i am now 100th out of 2047. *sniff sniff*
2:35PM - 66 in MP. min raise. one caller. 10c-10-4. 60 bet and call. 5c on turn. 90 bet to me. i call. 8c on river. 240 pot bet to me. i fold. i think it was a steal. no telling.
2:41PM - big stack is 17905. wow. must be some donks at the other tables. my table is tight! might be time to loosen up.....
2:43PM - 22 in SB. blind vs blind - i max raise to 90. BB (short stack at table) folds. i show 22. heh.
2:47PM - in BB, UTG raises to 90, i call with Q5s. UTG is short stack. flop comes with a queen and two clubs. i push, he re-raises, i call. AKc vs my top pair. turn is a club and i double the short stack up. doh!
2:49PM - not that it matters too much at this stage, but doubling up the short stack drops me to 327th/1850. owwie.
2:53PM - seat open, table 42! MP limps, BB raises, MP calls. flop with a queen. BB goes all-in, MP calls and shows AA. BB has AQo and is out.
2:55PM - new player, has medium stack. i am no longer table big stack - Spike 01 now has that honor, your honor.
2:56PM - break on the hour; i'll have some stats then.
2:58PM - AJo in BB. i call min raise. flop 5-Q-3 rainbow. pot bet. i give him credit for a hand bigger than or equal to queens. i fold.
